Releasing Our Inner Power: Pagan Dance and Healing

Aren't stress and anxiety a part of all of our lives in today's fast-paced world? Don't we always realize that we are disconnected from nature? If you ask me, many people - even if they don't realize it - often feel something is missing: A kind of dissatisfaction... A strange feeling of incompleteness that is always present even if they are living in good conditions... not being able to experience what can be called "complete relaxation".

The reason for not being able to experience the brain inertia that I call "complete relaxation" is that the body and brain attitudes required to reach it are prohibited by cultural sanctions. However, complete relaxation is the key to spiritual and physical healing.

 

Even though sexual prohibitions have been relatively lifted in today's Western societies, being oneself (behaving differently from the herd, even if it is at a reasonable level) is still seriously prohibited. In modern societies, this prohibition is not legal, but everyone knows that the price of being oneself will be paid by not having a standard job and a traditional family. It is impossible for many of us to turn our backs on these two needs. However, this prohibition we impose on ourselves, this boundary we draw, although it brings us closer to a good job and a traditional family, will distance us from our true self (the completeness, comfort and freedom experienced when we are ourselves).

 

The reason why being oneself (being different from the general public) is belittled, prohibited or seen as meaningless/unnecessary is to prevent any action that will return us to our essence and thus bring us into contact with nature. This culture and order is a patriarchal culture created by some selfish, self-centered, possessive, domineering, self-centered men, who are generally at the decisive levels due to patriarchal guidance. Needless to say, these types of men were fed and supported by Judaism and Christianity, thus the old traditions (matriarchy) were forgotten, and although the pressures decreased over time, for many years, many wrongs were declared as "God's command" and cultural truths (customs, traditions, etc.) were persecuted, and people were held captive with the label of "undiscussable". It is almost impossible to cope with this structure with known methods.

 

The good news is that reaching complete relaxation (healing) is not as difficult as it is thought; in other words, there is a simple, easy and harmless, but secret way. This way of reaching the state of soul (brain) that will make us ourselves, relax us completely, and thus find both spiritual and physical satisfaction and healing is pagan dance.

 

Dance is already therapeutic by its nature, that is, healing; it discharges the negative emotions accumulated in the psychological structure, repairs and discharges the wounds opened by the blows received, and releases the repressed side. Scientific studies have shown that physical movements can increase serotonin levels and help eliminate anxiety and mental inhibitions. The superiority of dance over sports and yoga is that it contains the magic called music, which is called "food for the soul." A study conducted by the American Dance Therapy Association showed that 70% of participants improved their emotional state after participating in dance therapy.

 

This "goodness", this healing effect found in all types of dance, is even more enhanced in pagan dance.
